Former Seimas spokesperson L. Graužinienė said she was not afraid to return to politics, because no matter how long she had to survive, few had.
Critics are no longer afraid
After the 2016 Seimas elections, in which the Labor Party performed extremely poorly, L. Graužinienė left the party, fired from the post of Seimas chairman and returned to Ukmergė to work as a bailiff.
Four years later, L. Graužinienė, encouraged by the residents of Ukmergė, decided to try again in the elections.
“When actually communicating with the people in Ukmergė, a lot of people asked for it. And after much deliberation, I wondered why I didn’t run in the one-member constituency.” Delphi she spoke of her self-determination.
The only aspect that worries politicians is a possible job change.
“There were more reflections or changes in the nature of work again, if voters sometimes wanted to believe. This is the fourth year that I have been working in my field of auditing. You know, all arguments are weighed all the time, ”explained L. Graužinienė.
The politician, who resigned from public opinion for almost four years, said he was not afraid to return to the public arena.
“It’s really not that feeling, that feeling is gone. Because, as much as I had to endure, it was probably the political units that had to do it. So, scar my tight, no longer serves me at all, “said the interlocutor.
If the Seimas elections are not successful for L. Graužinienė, she has another plan.
“It just came to our knowledge then. (…) If there is a different decision and I am not elected to the Seimas, there is still time, together with the convened committee, I will lead self-government and continue to participate in politics. By continuing to take those steps towards forward, I am preparing for the mayoral election and self-government, “said the politician.
When asked if he would aspire to become mayor of Ukmergė, L. Graužinienė said he would.
“I’m going to do that because people really want a change, they want to join the committee, I’m really going to help them do that,” he said.
Parties don’t make sense anymore
This time L. Graužinienė participates alone in the elections, without the help of any party. So he decided to know what parties are inside.
“I do not belong to any party at the moment and I will not belong to anyone in the near future. I can’t say I’m singing, it would be too harsh a word. (…) But anyway, I am disappointed with the political system itself, there are no more ideological struggles, there are no clear dividing lines. Everything has turned into easy populism, short-term decisions and it is certainly not healthy for the state itself, when political parties only pursue the voice of the voter and do not think at all about the strategic issues of the state.
The parties have lost their true partisan vocation of grouping people according to ideological criteria. And that struggle is taking place more on a personal level, at the level of seeking some kind of accusation, but not an ideological struggle ”, expected L. Graužinienė, who was waiting for comments on the current political situation.
The politician said that she participated in several interviews with former members of the Labor Party, but decided to run alone in the elections.
“The meaning of that holiday is disappearing, so people are moving away from them,” concluded L. Graužinienė.
The former president of the Seimas stated that after entering Parliament, he would like to work on the Audit Committee.
“I worked on it all the time while I was at Seimas. I really see that there is a lack of audit oversight, there is a lack of help from Seimas to the State Audit Office.” I would like to work so that we can see who it is. they are spending state funds; this is the money of all of us, “he said.
The interlocutor plans to work in a mixed group of Seimas members.
“It just came to our notice then. There is also the opportunity to work in the Joint Group of Seimas members in the Seimas, in my opinion, an initial vision. If the voters trusted me, I would talk to the voters, see what voters would like me. they supported more, I would take their opinion into account ”, said the politician about the possible incorporation of a Seimas faction.
He listed the problems of this Seimas
After observing the activities of the parliament of this period from the country, L. Graužinienė also assessed the situation of the current president of the Seimas Viktoras Pranckietis.
He did not resign after the change in the composition of the ruling coalition, later he left the ruling Lithuanian Union of Peasants and Greens (LVŽS) and will participate in elections with the Liberal Movement.
L. Graužinienė stated that being the president of the Seimas is not an easy job.
“From my personal experience, I can say that it is not easy for the Spokesmen of the Seimas to work because they cannot be members of a faction. And in a sense, the Statute of the Seimas separates them from political communication, because it should be the same for everyone, communicate equally So naturally, there are some misunderstandings, misunderstandings.
Loreta Graužinienė
Because the party that delegates to the Speaker of the Seimas undoubtedly wants him to first take into account their wishes and demands. It is that the conflict is self-programmed to be. Because it is really very difficult to find that balance ”, he assured.
The former head of parliament assured that these conflicts hampered the normal work of the Seimas.
“It was a really bad situation because obviously it was an obstacle. Even for the appointment of certain officials who really needed to be appointed. Let’s say that the same Chancellor is provided by the Seimas, the head of the Seimas, and the Seimas does not vote. Or the rulers immediately refuse to support. This is already a sign that the whole system is not working, there is interference. Those problems were ” Delphi said candidate L. Graužinienė.
Myopic government
L. Graužinienė said that during this period of the Seimas he noticed a lot of anger over the personalities and missed the role of the opposition.
“In practice, only the peasants were in the ruling majority, all the other factions were just annexes to the vote. From what I understand, there wasn’t a lot of joint work there. Another aspect is that the opposition has been very weak. Perhaps there were more personal disputes, reproaches, but there was a difficult situation on the merits.
Even in the case of a pandemic, there was a real lack of voice and control in the opposition; we can now really see that the issues of public procurement and the use of funds are also coming to the fore. This raises me the question of what the opposition was doing at the time and why proper control was not carried out, ”said L. Graužinienė.
The politician said the debate was more missed.
“That great majority of peasants seemed to control everything. So, when there is no discussion, only one opinion remains, and in parliament it is not healthy, it is not good for the state itself, ”he explained.
L. Graužinienė also quite strictly evaluated the one-time benefits of 200 euros distributed to the elders of the ruling majority.
Loreta Graužinienė
“Would you rate that term very badly? I would appreciate the fact that much attention has been paid to reducing social exclusion. However, these solutions were short-lived and will pose even more problems in the long run. Because people are used to making money without working. Even for retirees, those 200 euros, perhaps eat more tasty once.
But you will want to eat much tastier in half a year, or it is better to live, buy shoes. It is a short-term solution that programs people for certain expectations in the future. They will be dissatisfied again. We want politicians to make long-term decisions that have long-term benefits, ”L. Graužinienė said during the interview.
Delphi remember that the elections to the Seimas will be held on October 11.
