Several Lithuanian champion girls Šiauliai “Gintra-Universiteto” at the start of the UEFA Champions League 4: 0 defeated the strongest Slovak team in Bratislava “Slovan” and entered the second stage of the competition. Amanda Kass, Abby Carchio, Ru Mucherera and Tristan Corneil were the winners.
From the undistributed basket, the Slovaks, who by draw became Šiauliai’s opponents, began the duel with great caution, and Šiauliai, in turn, settled on the side of the opposing squad from the first minutes. Unfortunately, it was not possible to turn that great advantage of the game into opportunities, much less goals.
After the break, the game of “Gintra” became even more active, and the competitors simply did not miss the Lithuanian representatives who played with confidence. Šiauliai started creating opportunities and goals were added.
Midway through the second half, A.Kass headed in after the corner. A few minutes later, R. Mucherera perfectly passed the ball to Rimante Jonušaitė, after a header from the latter, the Slovakian goalkeeper bounced the ball to A.Carchio, who doubled the difference from a few meters.
Even later, the best player of the match R.Mucherera burst into the penalty area after a large raid and began crushing opponents with a powerful shot. The last point, made with an 11-meter penalty, was assisted by T. Corneil.
This victory extended the European season for Šiauliai residents. Tomorrow the team’s second rival will be announced and the place where the next match will take place. The winners of that second round will advance to the main tournament of the UEFA Champions League with 32 teams.
