However, this increase is not yet the level reached in Germany during the coronavirus peak in late March, when the number of new infections per day was 6,000.

In the summer, the spread of the virus in Germany slowed, but the number of cases began to increase dramatically again in July, and in August the number of new confirmed cases per day exceeded 2,000.

According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) in Germany, the total number of COVID-19 infections recorded since the outbreak now stands at 270,070.

In the last 24 hours, six people died of COVID-19 in Germany, bringing the total number of deaths in the country to 9,384.

About 239,800 people infected with coronavirus have recovered, according to RKI data.
