On Thursday morning a tragedy took place at the EMSI gas station near the Kaunas-Klaipėda highway. A colleague of the driver of this vehicle was killed when the tractor tire exploded.
Džiuginta Vaitkevičienė, representative of the Kaunas County Fire and Rescue Board, reported that at 08.10 a notification about this disaster was received in the Juodgiris village of the Pernarava Elderhood of the Kėdainiai district.
Also reported was a tractor tire explosion and a crushed man whose condition is unclear. It was later clarified that it was pressed against the front wheel of the tractor.
All special services were dispatched to the disaster site a few tens of kilometers from Kaunas.
After firefighters used the airbag and removed the disaster, ambulance medics found that the injuries he had sustained were incompatible with life. According to preliminary data, a 59-year-old resident of the Kaunas district died.
An employee of the gas station in whose territory the tragedy took place told the portal kauno.diena.lt that he had not seen his circumstances: the colleague of the deceased summoned special services.
According to preliminary data from the Police, which initiated the investigation, the deceased was the driver of another truck, who came to the aid of his twenty-year-old colleague. It explains under what circumstances a person was found under the explosion of a tractor wheel.
According to the police, both drivers are Lithuanian. The fire brigade tug, under which one person died in a circle, belongs to the UAB “Transgeba”, registered in the Kaunas – Stanaičiai district.
Calling the listed cell phone of the director of this company, he said: “I have nothing to comment because we are in big trouble!” and hastened to end the conversation.
The Territorial Division of the Kaunas State Labor Inspectorate, having initiated its own investigation into the circumstances of the tragedy, clarified to the kauno.diena.lt portal that the drivers of both trucks worked for the same company.
