“The president will give his final assessment to the prime minister as soon as his meeting takes place,” said A. Bubnelis, adding that G. Naus yetda has not yet received a new nomination for agriculture minister.
Mr. Skodis himself called open the meeting with the president: “We discussed many issues, from infrastructure to population problems, self-government issues and aspects of national security.”
Several key aspects were discussed: competitiveness of the transport sector, maintaining the importance of national security, development of strategic infrastructure projects, accessibility of Lithuania by air, implementation of the Green Lithuania policy.
M.Skuodis: why is one road or another paved? Why invest in one infrastructure project or another? I would like it to be very easy for any Lithuanian to see why one decision or another has been made.
According to A.Bubnelis, the president also pointed out that both the transport and agricultural sectors supervise the areas that have the greatest impact on the environment, which is why great progress is needed in these cases. The strengthening of public transport was also discussed.

M.Skuodis highlighted three discussed priorities. The first is “absolute transparency of the decisions made and the disclosure of the data on which those decisions are based.”
“Why is one road or another paved? Why invest in one infrastructure project or another? I would like to make it easy for any Lithuanian resident to see why one decision or another was made, ”said M. Skuodis.
The second priority is related to the transport logistics sector: “There are great challenges ahead. Both the environmental impact of the sector and the need for digitization and innovation.
The ministry will have a key role to play here simply because of our responsibilities. There is no need to hide, the automobile sector is one of the most polluting, so we will have to find solutions. “

“The third thing is a person as a priority in the decision-making of the Ministry of Transport and Communications. Here we have to change our focus.
When we talk about communication and infrastructure, we are talking about the construction of one or another object, say, a road. But we have to talk about sustainable mobility plans, what should be on the side of the road, what a person should do when getting out of the car.
Even when planning the infrastructure, we must have the answers to the questions that follow. This requires a new approach: the approach of urban planning experts, architects, ”explained M. Skuodis.
Aušrinė Armonaitė, leader of the Freedom Party, previously told BNS that the candidate was “valuable” to the party with experience in public administration.
He also said that he had seen M. Skuodas on his political team at the Ministry of Economy and Innovation.
G.Nausėda announced on Friday that he was rejecting the candidate proposed by the Freedom Party for the Minister of Transport and Communications Kaspars Adomaitis.

He has worked as Deputy Minister of Economy and Innovation since mid-January 2018, previously he worked at the Bank of Lithuania and taught at Vilnius University.
