In the Lithuanian Basketball League (Betsafe-LKL) the battle of the permanent medalists of recent years took place – Panevėžys “Lietkabelis” (6/2) away 90:80 (24:22, 13:18, 28:23, 25:17) defeated the “Neptune” of Klaipėda (3/7).
Lietkabelis came to the port city after replacing the central forwards: Marino Maričius was replaced by George Gagičius. The hosts won the match at the Cido arena (87:82), and M.Maricius, who scored 21 points, was the hardest to stop.

In the second half, the Klaipėda people started again more solidly, leaving 34:28 after the points of Džiugas Slavinskas. “Neptūnas” accumulated the most points in the penalty area and this time considered the best advantage, Tadas Pažlaik was able to close the quarter with points, but Gytis Masiulis responded with a triple with a siren – 40:37.
Evaldas Šaulys became the first double-digit player of the match, but points from Vytenis Lipkevičius and G. Masiulis forced Tomas Gaidamavičius to call for a minute break – 44:42. Later, a three-point competition took place, in which the people of Klaipėda exchanged pitches with G. Masiulis – 57:56. George Gagic picked up two unsportsmanlike fouls and was sent to the locker room, but the guests, taking advantage of the mistakes of Neptune’s players, went ahead – 65:63.
Lietkabelis shifted to an even higher gear and led Margiris Normantas by 12 points (76:64). The hosts responded with their streak, and Evaldas Šaulis’s 3-pointer with a foul reduced the gap to seven points – 75:82. However, the Aukštaitija club withstood the decisive time.
Throughout the match, the hosts drowned in mistakes, which were made up to 17. Club players T.Pažėra and Adomas Sidarevičius were very often a mixed drink, as they had a hard time coping with pressure from Lietkabelis.
G.Masiulis became the MVP of the match, scoring 22 points (1/1 two points, 6/9 three points, 2/2 penalty shots) in 31 minutes, bouncing 7 balls, infringing once, provoking opponents 4 times and accumulating 29 utility points.
