K. Glaveckas will be buried on Sunday at the Antakalnis Cemetery in the capital.

On Friday, the country’s leaders expressed their condolences on the death of Kstuis Glaveckas, a longtime Seimas member and signatory of the March 11 Law, one of the members of the Lithuanian Free Market Institute.
In his condolences, President Gitanas Nausda says that K. Glaveckas was an important member of the state due to his important contribution to the political life of Lithuania.

At the Seimas since 1996
Elected to the Restorative Seimas of the Supreme Soviet in 1990, the politician was elected to the Seimas without interruption since 1996 and served as vice chairman of the Budget and Finance Committee.
In 1998-2000, K. Glaveckas was vice president of the Union of Lithuanian Centers (LCS), since 2000 the president. The politician was an active initiator of the unification of LCS with the Lithuanian Liberal Union and the Modern Christian Democratic Union, and in 2003 he was elected First Vice President of the Liberal and Center Union.
After the division of the Liberal Union and Center, K. Glaveckas was a member of the Liberal Session, but after the last parliamentary elections, the parliament elected by this political force left the Liberal parliamentary faction.
K. Glaveckas, who was born on April 30, 1949, graduated from Vilnius A. Vienuolis High School (now Vytautas Magnus Gymnasium), in 1967-1972 he studied at the Faculty of Industrial Economics of Vilnius University.
In 19722000 he studied at the VU Faculty of Economics, in 1976 he defended the title of candidate in economics and in 1987 he defended his habilitation thesis at the University of Tallinn, where he obtained the title of qualified doctor in economics.
He graduated from the University of Frankfurt am Main in 1988 and received the title of Professor in 1989. In 1989-1990 he studied at New York University, in 1992-1993 at the Budapest University of Economics.
In 1991-296, the politician advised Lithuanian and foreign companies, along with other Lithuanian Free Market Institutes, and in 1991-1998 he was chairman of the board of this institute.
K. Glaveckas has been awarded the Commander’s Cross of the Order of the Grand Duke of Lithuania Gediminas, the Lithuanian Independence Medal.
There are more than 300 research articles on market economy issues in Lithuania and abroad; Author of the book Problems of intensification of production, market economy and state regulation.
