According to Vita Bubliauskaitė, project manager, the contractors managing this representative space should be finished by the end of November.

“The finishing works, the installation of the fountain and the protection of the trees remain,” said V. Bubliauskaitė.

After rebuilding, the image of Freedom Square will have changed significantly.

In the northern part of it, in front of the hotel, the old granite slabs were replaced by composite-clad granite slabs and pads, which were brought by ship to the capital of Aukštaitija from China. According to V. Bubliauskaitė, these panels are not cast, but cut in stone, so they are durable.

“Freedom Square is not equipped with the cheapest materials. The granite used for cladding is not cheap either, because these tiles are cut from natural stone, which makes them more durable and long-lasting,” says the project manager.

And the red granite slabs still in good condition in this part of the square have been moved to another part of the Laisvės Square, to the Municipality. There will be no parking in this place, and a representative space will appear, where the city’s festivals will take place.

There is a playground in Freedom Square, as well as islets where it is believed that there are outdoor cafes. And perhaps the most important highlight of the renovated square is a round fountain that sprouts from the ground. According to V. Bubliauskaitė, in the afternoons it will be possible to admire the colorful dance of the water currents that reach up to two meters. Next to the fountain, the formation of green islands, adapted to sit quietly, a kind of oasis of rest.

Paulius Židonis, a photographer from Sekundė, scanned the square after the completion of the renovation.
