“The end will be when we know the results, that is, before we know it, we are racing,” said A. Zuokas seriously at the headquarters.

At the beginning of the party’s founding, President Remigijus Žemaitaitis said he expected 15 seats, then lowered his expectations to 10. On election night, A. The politician stresses that the party has run out of time, which can also affect the results.

“It just came to our notice then. We couldn’t even convene a joint congress for two months, because there were restrictions, we couldn’t gather candidates for a place, so we only found one window in June and for the first time in Lithuanian history we did a congress in cars, ”he says.

However, A. Zuokas does not hesitate with his strength and believes that he will shake the second round of elections in the single-member constituency.

Feeling frustrated

Another party leader, Artūras Paulauskas, a member of the Freedom and Justice party, is disappointed that mayors in rural areas are using resources to support their candidates.

“It is not easy to fight when all administrative resources are focused on supporting other candidates, but I hope [laimėti – red.]”, Says A. Paulauskas.

He also says his time is up, but he hopes this election will be a serious start for a new party.

“All sorts of things in the pandemic prevented us from finally joining and registering, and then there were all sorts of attempts by opponents to get our feet on the wheels, but as it stands, that’s right.

In my opinion, it is very important for us today to become a parliamentary party and have some mandate holders who have won in our constituency, that would be a start, ”he says hopefully.

The political party was formed this summer on the basis of the Lithuanian Freedom Union (Liberals), the “Order and Justice” party and the “Forward Lithuania” public political movement.
