The former director of infrastructure of the institution has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison, with a two-year moratorium. He is also deprived of the right to serve for two years as a civil servant, civil servant or equivalent. In this case, the former chairman of the board of a Latvian construction company was also convicted, found guilty of bribery by the same ruling by the Klaipėda Regional Court and fined almost 9.5 thousand euros.
During the investigation carried out by the officials of the Klaipėda Board of the Special Investigation Service (STT), sufficient data was collected, which shows that in February 2016, the Director of Infrastructure of KSSA G. Zumaras received more than 5,000 Clock of Swiss bracelet Ulysse Nardin.
The investigation also revealed that in June of the same year, G. Zumaras received 5,000 euros from a representative of a Latvian company, which was placed in a bottle of alcoholic beverage worth 48 euros. The purpose of these bribes was for the representative of the Port Authority to make decisions in favor of the Latvian company that carried out construction works under contracts with the state company KSSA. Both the watch and the money are confiscated by court order.
The pre-trial investigation was controlled by prosecutors from the Organized Crime and Corruption Investigation Division of the Klaipėda Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the General Prosecutor’s Office recalled in a statement issued on Thursday.
