On Tuesday, David Sirvydis linked his future to the Detroit Pistons, and the Michigan state team’s decision has been widely criticized.
In addition to the opinion of Pistons fans, John Hollinger, the former Grizzlies boss in Memphis and now The Athletic, has spoken out.
The American was stunned by the Pistons’ decision to sign a three-year contract (last season not guaranteed) with Sirvydis.
“It just came to our notice then. Last year he had a hard time in the Lithuanian basketball league, and this year he scored 1 point in two games in the Israeli championship,” Hollinger wrote on Twitter.
It’s true, from 2012. to 2019 Hollinger, president of the Grizzlies’ basketball operations, made a record mistake: Sirvydis didn’t play in the Israeli championship this season, but he did score a point in two Champions League games.
Hollinger, 49, is also praised in the NBA for making a strong contribution to offensive and defensive ratings in the past with more than 100 attacking stats.
Sirvydis was invited by the Dallas Mavericks to the 2019 NBA Rookie in call-up 37, but the player’s rights were immediately transferred to the Pistons.
