Forecasts already show what to expect in December: this year will be different

Late fall is pampered with unusual warmth. Since September, almost every decade has been characterized by higher-than-normal air temperatures and lower rainfall.

Only the second tenth of October was exceptional, when the average air temperature in Lithuania was only 0.1 ° C lower than the standard climate norm (SKN), and the amount of precipitation was almost twice normal.

The first two decades of November were 3.8-4.2 ° C warmer than usual, and the third shouldn’t stand out from its trend either. In general, the fall that passes this year should be warmer by about 2-3 ° C.

The air temperature in Lithuania in the second half of December is forecast to be up to 2.5 ° C higher than the SKN. If the whole month is considered, the air temperature is expected to be up to 2.0 ° C above the norm (SKN -1.9 ° C).

Precipitation in the second half of December is expected to be up to 5%. lower than the multi-year average, and precipitation throughout the month should also be lower (up to 10%) compared to the SKN (SKN 55mm).

Summing up the forecast for the monthly mean air temperature and rainfall, it can be said that December will be warmer and slightly drier than usual in Lithuania.
