For those who want to do less for heating: the call of Minister Navickienė: he said what to do

Journalist Jolanta Svirnelytė spoke more about this in the “Daily Commentary” on TV3 News.

We are seeing an increase in heating prices and in some places they will go up by as much as 80%. Have you established any compensation system?

Yes, I want to say that the power is still the possibility of receiving heating compensation and now this procedure is in effect. During quarantine and emergency, when receiving compensation for heating, people are not counted, their property is included, that is, it is not valued. I want to repeat this message and ask the municipalities to request compensation for heating.

Likewise, together with the budget and after evaluating the solutions proposed by other fellow ministers – both the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Environment – the Ministry of Social Security and Labor will propose to expand the potential circle of beneficiaries.

This is for single people living alone, up to 3 state-supported income, and for those living in a group, families, up to 2 state-supported income. This, according to our estimates, would increase by an additional 10.5 thousand recipients and we truly believe that all those people will be able to receive compensation and cover their heating.

It may also be important to emphasize that the law regulates that a person cannot pay more than 10 percent of their residual income from the amount of state sponsored income. For example, if, after deducting the three amounts of state income from a person’s income, he has an amount of 60 euros left, then his heating costs cannot exceed 6 euros. Everything else is reimbursed by the state. It is a subsidy of this size and shape that anyone, even those who earn an average salary, can request, if they live in a family, if it exceeds that 10%, they can request and receive compensation for heating.

But where do these people have to go and how will this whole mechanism go?

All people must apply to municipalities. Municipal specialists assess the income received, the composition of the family and the amount of compensation is calculated accordingly. I really urge everyone on this, and I especially remind you that during quarantine, an emergency is an invaluable asset, so people can actually apply for and claim the compensation they deserve for heating.

But heating is just one of those expensive things. We also see more expensive electricity, more expensive food, more expensive fuel. It’s already one in five, in terms of numbers, facing poverty, so how will you survive here? Do you need more compensation and support? Maybe you have something in mind?

Yes, of course, a number of solutions have been identified to increase income, starting with increasing the monthly minimum wage. Today, it was the Ministry of Finance who presented its vision for the possible application of the tax-free income rate as of the New Year. We have so agreed or agreed and we have already proposed an increase of 4 euros in the basic amount, which will affect the salaries of civil servants, and an increase in the minimum coefficients. Salaries must go up, as you know, and pensions will go up.

There is also a supplement for single pensioners living the poorest, to whom the budget applies as of January 1. About 100 million euros will be allocated to Really is growing and its income. We believe that all prices, especially when we talk about heating prices, electricity prices, where we hear so much from the Bank of Lithuania that the effect should be temporary, will increase revenues faster than possible costs.
