Police note that many people, along with children, gathered in public spaces on Saturday to enjoy the delights of winter.

Officials have had to come repeatedly to warn people to comply and maliciously ignore them to initiate administrative proceedings.

“We fully understand that people, and especially children, miss snow, the climate is very conducive to enjoying the pleasures of winter. However, we remind you that it is necessary to act responsibly even when you are outdoors.

Choose places where there are not many people, remember to wear protective masks and keep a safe distance. Protect yourself and your family members, ”says Renatas Požėla, Commissioner General of the Police.

On Sunday, the police were instructed to pay even more attention to the control of public places, if necessary, to allocate part of the forces that were intended to control movement between municipalities.

The government has extended the quarantine regime due to the spread of COVID-19 until January 31. In Lithuania, most stores are closed except for food stores, movement is allowed only when necessary, and movement of people between municipalities is restricted.

Close contact between more than one family and / or one household member is not possible. In public places, there can be a maximum of 2 groups of people or groups of a family and / or a household member.

Violators face a fine of between 500 and 1,000 euros.
