According to Rolanda Lingienė, head of the Vilnius department of the NVSC, if people cannot work remotely, it is very important that they follow infection prevention measures correctly everywhere, especially in areas intended for resting or eating.
“It often turns out that infection prevention, let’s say, ends up in dining rooms and dining rooms. This means that in this way we “scrape” all the efforts that both employers and employees make in the workplace through the use of personal protective equipment, ensuring the cleanliness of surfaces and premises “, says R. Lingienė.
Therefore, he said, it is very important that employers pay attention to organizing break time, as well as encouraging employees to protect themselves and others.
It is highly recommended to abstain at all from being in these spaces, so that employees who, due to their functions, become part of the ‘social bubble’ remain in it without more people entering that bubble.
In the absence of such facilities, the NVSC recommends a more flexible regimen for rest or meal breaks, so that there are as few people as possible in common areas.
It is also advisable to clean, disinfect the facilities regularly and ensure adequate ventilation of the facilities. In addition, it is very important that workers wear appropriate and timely personal protective equipment: the disposable mask should be changed every 3-4 hours, once it is wet.
The NVSC encourages those who can work remotely to do so. NVSC recalls that working remotely ensures that people with other contacts in the home or social environment do not meet in one place, thus preventing the possible spread of infection. In the absence of coronavirus infection, it is particularly important to reduce physical contact with humans. If there are no contacts, there will be no people at risk. This means breaking the chain of infection.
In accordance with the Government’s decision, the exemption for teleworking and remote customer service applies in cases where the relevant functions (work) must be performed at the workplace, ensuring the flow of people, safe distance, conditions to provide the necessary personal protective equipment.
