The second victory in the double week of the Euroleague in Russia was achieved by the Barcelona basketball players (14/6) led by Šarūnas Jasikevičius, who 88:75 (20:25, 22:16, 22:15, 24:19) edged out tournament leader Moscow CSKA (15/5), beating him for the second time this season.
6 minutes after the start of the match, CSKA was able to break free after the 6: 0 – 18:11 stage. The hosts also had a gap of 8 points (25:17), but after the first half the advantage narrowed slightly: 25:20. In the second quarter, Moscow’s 8: 2 streak created a double-digit lead for the first time: 35:24. With less than 3 minutes to go, the locals controlled the situation (40:32), but Barcelona scored 10 points in the remaining time, to which the rivals responded with just 1 and the Catalans advanced 42:41 in the middle of the party.
After a great break 5 minutes later, CSKA scored just 3 points and the guests – 6, increasing the lead – 48:44. With a minute and a half to play, the gap was unchanged (49:53), but Barca’s 9: 2 lead gave it a double-digit lead for the first time: 62:51. CSKA, who finished the quarter a little better, came a little closer – 56:64.
The successful start of the decisive quarter allowed Barcelona to reload double-digit stocks: 69:58. For the rest of the time, the CSKA was unable to get closer and restore the intrigue, so Shar’s army recorded a solid victory.
Both teams played far from the strongest lineups: CSKA did not have Will Clyburn and Daniel Hackett, and Barça did not have Brandon Davies and Nikola Mirotich.
CSKA scored only 4 out of 21 points (19.1%), while Barcelona scored much better: 12 out of 27 (44.4%).
