The largest fire broke out on October 16, 2019. Its consequences for people and the environment are enormous, and the damage to the state exceeds 5 million euros.
In order to investigate all the circumstances of the Alytus fire, a group of four specialized prosecutors was formed at the Kaunas Regional Prosecutor’s Office, who led and organized the pre-trial investigation. The pre-trial investigation is carried out in various directions, various versions of the cause of the fire are investigated, the actions and decisions taken by various institutions that have supervised the economic entity are evaluated.
The investigation controlled and coordinated by the prosecutors of the Kaunas Regional Prosecutor’s Office is carried out by officers of the Criminal Police Crime Investigation Division, the Criminal Police Economic Crime Investigation Division and the Criminal Investigation Division of Organized Crimes of the Alytus County Chief Police Commissariat.
