The 12-year-old price of bitcoin has risen sharply since March this year, when it cost $ 5,000. Online payments giant PayPal’s decision to allow users to pay in cryptocurrencies helped achieve such a sharp price jump this year.
After PayPal’s move, analysts at investment bank JPMorgan Chase compared bitcoin to gold and said it could become an alternative to regular currencies.
