The Government approved the proposal of the member of the Seimas Žygimantas Pavilionis to increase the credits for the Chancellery of the Seimas in 44 thousand. for the salary and social security contributions of the Permanent Representative of the Seimas to the United States Congress.

The Government partially approved the proposal of the member of the Seimas Laurynas Kasčiūnas and, without increasing the total amount of the allocations, reduce the allocations provided for the Special Investigation Service for the acquisition of goods by 100,000. and assign them to expense credits.

The Government also partially approved the proposal of the members of the Seimas Tomas Vytautas Raskevičius, Dainius Kepenis, Tomas Bičiūnas, Eugenijus Gentvilas, Sergejus Jovaiša to increase the appropriations for the Office of the Ombudsman for Children by LTL 19,000. EUR (for severance pay for the Ombudsman for Children).

In addition, the Government partially approved the proposal of the deputy of the Seimas Artūras Žukauskas and to increase the credits for the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports by 11,700 thousand. EUR and indicate them in Annex 2 of the project “Budget credits of the State of the Republic of Lithuania for 2021” – after the line “Ministry of Education and Sports” insert the line “of which: to address the consequences of the COVID pandemic -19 ”(development of digital education and COVID-19 to compensate for learning losses).

The government did not approve other proposals by the members of the Seimas to allocate additional funds from the budget.

The Seimas will finally consider the draft budget in Tuesday’s session.

The state budget bill foresees that the state budget revenue in 2021, including the European Union and other international financial aid, will amount to LTL 11.2 billion. euros.

State budget allocations for the acquisition of expenses and assets in 2021, including the European Union and other international financial support, will amount to 15.82 billion. euros.

Budget allocations will exceed revenues by 4,570 million. euros. Lithuania will need to borrow these funds next year and repay them in the future.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the updated budget has increased spending by more than 1.23 billion. euros. Most of them will be used to reduce the effects of the coronavirus.
