Vilnius County Officials from the Criminal Police Property Crimes Investigation Board of the Chief Commissariat of Police investigating cybercrime and the Vilnius Public Prosecutor’s Office have launched five pre-trial investigations for possession of child pornography cases.
The investigations started after the Lithuanian police carried out criminal intelligence actions on the Internet and in cooperation with foreign partners.
During the pre-trial investigation, at least 7 searches were carried out at the suspects’ premises and workplaces. During the search, more than 40 objects important for the investigation were found and seized, that is, desktop and laptop computers, mobile phones, tablets, external and internal hard drives, USB connections and others.
Criminals often look for victims on social media posing as girls.
Five people were suspected of disposing of pornographic content (article 309 (2) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania), (acquiring pornographic content), acquiring, storing and distributing more than 200 pornographic files using special platforms for file sharing.
