Five Lithuanian beaches have obtained blue flag status

The central beaches of Nida and Juodkrante, the Palanga Birutė Park, I Smiltynė and II Melnragė have been awarded, announced the Lithuanian Association of Municipalities.

According to her, the Copenhagen-based Blue Flag Council Commission, taking into account the conclusions of the coordinator of the national program, granted status to all Lithuanian beaches that submitted applications.

The International Blue Flag Program is aimed at municipalities that develop tourist services.

The flag for the summer season is awarded to beaches that meet international criteria for environmental education, management and information, water quality, safety and services.
