Vilnius residents who like to fish near the green lakes do not focus on the first day. Today, at least two dozen colorful carp can be counted on the ice, where fishermen protect themselves from the wind and cold, and even more sit under the open sky. The company of amateur fishermen is complemented by families who walk with children. So there was no more space in the parking lot by the lake, there was a long line of cars lined up on the side of the street.

Fishermen interviewed said that the most “current” fish in the lake is now salmon. They are caught at a depth of 38 meters, using mosquito larvae as bait.

“Kimba is like someone, I myself feel in the morning, the catch is not a miracle, but it is still this. We usually say: yesterday he got better,” smiled a fisherman.

The man said that some fish as much a kilogram as more small fish. “Some people take pike too, they really are here at that depth,” he said.

According to another fisherman, most would travel to more bodies of water, but quarantine rules still do not allow them to cross the boundaries of another municipality.

“There are not that many lakes suitable for fishing in Vilnius, so most of them focus on the Greens, and what you will do is the rules. So far there is enough space here for everyone, although we are already quite full. Today, definitely it will be a hundred “, – the Vilnius resident waved his hand towards a large group of fishermen.

According to the Ministry of the Environment, after the entry into force of the new restrictions during the quarantine announced in the country, they also apply to fishing and hunting. However, they are not completely prohibited: a person can hunt and fish in the open air, but only on the territory of his municipality of residence.
