This year’s holidays are marked not only by the wait for the Christmas miracle, but also by the COVID-19 vaccine, which will help control the outbreak of the pandemic. Santara Clinics is the main coordinating institution in the Vilnius region, so it will be responsible for the vaccination of medical personnel with the COVID-19 vaccine in the support hospitals both in Vilnius and in the Eastern region of Lithuania.
“The research results of the third phase vaccine confirmed that the vaccine that has reached Lithuania is safe. Studies show that its efficiency is 95 percent. Injecting the vaccine itself is a simple and daily operation, but preparing is extremely careful and responsible. Our clinics already have vaccine storage facilities, which will later be installed in the region. I appeal to our entire medical community and ask for a role model for society as a whole when vaccination begins against COVID infection. I hope that in the coming years we will see the light in front of our eyes on the currently dark path and together we will prevent this exhausting pandemic “, says Prof. General Director of Clinicas Santara, Feliksas Jankevčius.
In addition to the measures that already exist in our country to combat the pandemic, another component is vaccination. Vaccination has always been a science-based tool that helps build public immunity and therefore stop the outbreak of a pandemic.
“December 27, 2020 is a historic moment when vaccination against COVID-19 infection will take place simultaneously across Europe. We are looking forward to this moment, because waiting for a so-called naturally-occurring herd immunity is too long, too painful and costly for society. Every day thousands of new infections are confirmed, dozens of seriously ill COVID-19 patients die, and medical personnel with COVID-19 infection are alarmed, their illnesses painfully affecting and sometimes paralyzing the provision of assistance to Lithuanian citizens. We will do our best to vaccinate all the first vaccinations as soon as possible for those people who are directly exposed to coronavirus infection working in emergency departments. I am glad that Lithuania is keeping pace with all of Europe ”, says Prof. Ligita Jančorienė.
