And although the neighbor and the girl’s mother managed to save the chickens in the barn, later there was nothing left of this building and the hay. The flame also engulfed Vitalija’s brother’s newly built garage. Fortunately, firefighters arrived quickly and managed to avoid an even bigger disaster: the neighboring barn did not catch fire.
“As it turned out later, electricity was going everywhere, not just at our family’s house, there was a short circuit in the garage at that time. Unfortunately, the exact reason remains unclear. ” 15 minutes assures V.Jonikytė.
The girl is glad that no one was physically injured during the fire, and the favorable weather that night and firefighters did not allow the flame to spread.
“It just came to our knowledge then. The village is situated on the banks of the Nemunas, so the winters here are very windy. But that night was exceptionally quiet. Which greatly facilitated the firefighting work of the city’s firefighters. from Jurbarkas, the city of Raudonė and the village of Kiduliai, whose operational and rapid response managed to avoid a much greater disaster ”, expressed the grateful girl.
Brother’s dream garage and all equipment burned down
Vitalija’s brother’s burning garage also caused the family great pain. Turns out, he wasn’t fulfilling his old dream – he planned to open motorcycle and ATV repair shops in the spring. As a result, a lot of money was invested in both the garage and its equipment.
“A new elevator, several tools, a welding machine, a gasoline saw, his own motorcycle and an ATV have burned. Not only that, it burned and a friend put it away for the winter to leave the motorcycle, the ATV. Also lawn mowers, trimmers, bicycles …
Lots of other little things that we haven’t even thought about yet. The brother did everything on his own. How he paid, how much he achieved. We keep joking that my brother’s life was there. But now it is no longer just a laugh, because really all her work, savings and dreams have turned to ashes in just 30 minutes ”, Vitalija does not hide her sadness.
The incident also reminded the girl of a traumatic experience when, when the neighbors’ barn caught fire, her mother bravely rushed to rescue the animals in it. At that time, Vitaly, a girl, was madly scared to see her mother go into the flames.

“He was afraid of both his life and the animals in the barn. He was probably too young to realize what was really going on, but that pungent smell of smoke and the sound of the blackboard exploding were memorized for a lifetime.
