The Glory Cup tournament in Turkey, which took place under risky conditions, ended with sad news: many cases of coronavirus were registered and several teams did not finish the tournament.
The case of coronavirus was reported last Sunday by the Anadolu Efes team in Istanbul. The Euroleague club has won all six Glory Cup matches played, but the coronavirus found among the players will reintroduce isolation conditions and suspended training sessions.
The Istanbul club used an unusual rotation in the final match of the tournament, preparing mainly for local basketball players and without taking Vasily Micich, Shane Larkin, Krunoslav Simon, Bryant Dunston and Rodrigue Beaubois off the bench.
Illnesses were also recorded in other teams that participated in the tournament: Galatasaray from Istanbul and Dnipro from Dnipro. Galatasaray, Fenerbahche from Istanbul and Turk Telekom from Ankara withdrew before the end of the tournament.
