Taliban leader Mula Haibatullah Akhundzada arrived in Afghanistan, the country’s media reported on Sunday.

Available information suggests that during the years that US and allied forces were in Afghanistan, Akhundzada hid in neighboring Pakistan.

“Akhundzada has been in Kandahar province for four days, arguing with [kitais] Taliban leaders in Afghanistan and the development of a future system of government, “reported Ariana News.

Akhundzada is the third leader of the movement after Taliban founder Mullah Omar and Akhtar Mansour. In 2013, A. Mansour announced the death of Mullah Omar and was appointed in his place. In 2016, Mansour was shot dead by an American drone and H. Akhundzada became the leader of the movement.

Taliban leaders who took power in Afghanistan in mid-August say they are negotiating to form an inclusive government.

Zabihullah Mujahide, a spokesman for the movement, said that an inclusive government would be formed in the coming days and that consultations on the matter were ongoing.
