Experts from the Lithuanian Police Forensic Investigation Center, after examining the samples received from the scene in order of priority, stated that the remains found in the fire pit in the village of Birbiliškė, Mažeikiai district, Viekšniai sen.
The special police operation is coming to an end, the results of the examination have been reported and colleagues in Latvia, who are also finishing the search tools, have been informed by the Police Department at midnight.
Police Commissioner General Renatas Požėla thanks all the officers involved in the operation.
The deceased officer’s funeral ceremony is scheduled for Monday.
