Since the beginning of June, North Korea has been threatening and pressuring South Korea. Pyongyang was outraged at the release of flyers criticizing North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. “The EU deeply regrets the recent actions of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea,” the EU spokesman said in a statement.

He argued that the recent actions of North Korea “are creating tensions, destabilizing the situation and hampering a diplomatic solution on the Korean peninsula.”

“The bombardment of the North Korean liaison office today and the rhetoric of its recent statements and the interruption of communications with Seoul are unacceptable, and the country must avoid any other provocative and damaging action,” he said.
