Epidemiologist: 16 new cases of coronavirus have been identified, some of which are unclear

“According to preliminary data, there are 16 new cases, two imported, most of them in Vilnius County, are still in Panevėžys and Kaunas counties,” the director of the NVSC Vilnius department told Wednesday morning.

Earlier Wednesday, NVSC representatives stated that about ten cases had been identified, according to R. Lingienė, the data was reviewed after receiving the latest information.

To curb the deterioration of the epidemiological situation, the government is preparing to return the obligation to wear protective masks in some closed public spaces. According to Loreta Ašoklienė, Lithuania’s chief epidemiologist, LRT, these measures are taken to reduce the number of cases in which the source of infection cannot be identified and to prevent the uncontrolled spread of the virus in society.
