He has won numerous music awards and accolades for theatrical performances, including the National Prize for Culture and Art.
During his musical career, he has created music for more than 200 performances, 40 films.
According to the website of the Lithuanian Music Information Center, F. Latėnas’ work, which exists outside the theater, is often an abstraction of the music played in performances. The composer himself tends to call his creative style post-realism or post-realism, the most striking feature of which is a special hypertrophy of states (joy, sadness, sarcasm, etc.). The harmony of the works is emphatically romantic, based on sequences of triads and sixth chords, sometimes even completely avoiding any dissonance.
