As Ramūnas Matonis, a representative from the Police Department, told BNS on Sunday, both pre-trial investigations began on Monday, one of them due to an attempt to break into a carriage intended for early voting in Lukiškės square in the capital. Police have not yet detailed the circumstances of the second pre-trial investigation.

The highest number of complaints was due to unlawful agitation, suspicious people or cars near polling stations and possible bribery of voters.

Due to some of the information received, additional material is being collected and the circumstances are being clarified, reports the Police Department.

As R. Matonis told BNS, during the voting in the second round of the Seimas elections on Sunday, as well as the reports already received, the information is being reviewed.

“White Gloves”: There have been cases of possible bribery of voters

Hundreds of independent observers from the public organization “White Gloves” are watching the voting of the second round of the Seimas elections, which began at 7 am. During the first four hours of voting, 90 polling stations were visited and more than 20 reports were received from voters about possible irregularities. Observers have already contacted the Lithuanian police five times regarding possible cases of bribery and voter transport in the Vilnius region, Baltosios glštinės reports in a press release.

Election observers in electoral districts noticed unevenly sealed ballot boxes, not everywhere members of electoral commissions use inserts in voter lists to ensure protection of personal data, voters go to the polls one by one, as well as a number of cases in which personal protective equipment is used or not used irresponsibly.

Observers collect information on whether neighborhoods are adapted for people with physical disabilities. At least a quarter of the unsuitable districts will be submitted to the Forum of Lithuanian Organizations for People with Disabilities.

Citizens also report violations of the campaign ban on election weekends. Cases of political advertising have been reported on social media. It is important to note that external political advertising, hung before the ban on the agitation, can remain during it: citizens often report unreasonably in large open-air bleachers, which can also be hung on election day.

Almost one-tenth of voters voted early

Preliminary voting in the second round of the Seimas elections took place from Monday to Thursday. In Vilnius, Kaunas, Šiauliai and Raseiniai, voters in self-isolation at the mobile point had the opportunity to vote by car. Voting took place at home on Friday and Saturday.
