Starting March 20, due to amphibian migration, traffic to Vingis Park and adjacent parking lots will be restricted for at least one month.
Each spring, with the onset of amphibian migration, car traffic to the park is temporarily restricted by protecting frogs that travel in large numbers from wintering areas to spawning grounds so that they do not die under the wheels of the cars.
When the flow of cars decreases significantly, not only the amphibians that migrate intensively on the trails are protected, but also the pedestrians and athletes who like the park.
This type of animal care and practice is common not only in the capital’s parks, but also in foreign parks during amphibian migration periods.
Motorized park visitors should only use the parking spaces at remote park entrances and come to the park on foot. The transport of park visitors will not be allowed, only the transport of institutions operating in the Vingis Park (Botanical Garden, Vingis Stadium, Vilnius city parks and commercial and service companies located there) will be allowed to enter.
