The situation at the gates of Vilnius, leaving Ukmergės street, has been complicated for several years. With the opening of the Vilnius Western Ring Road, traffic became even more intense and the planned right turn through the tunnel towards Tarandė came to a halt. As a result, drivers wait in a stretched line in the third lane of traffic, waiting to turn left. They cross the direction of those who come from Panevėžys. And although the maximum speed is limited at this location, accidents are unfortunately not being achieved due to such a confusing road infrastructure. And a lot of time is wasted, fuel is burned.

According to members of the Tarande community, it is not completely safe to drive in any direction at this location. And the promise of two municipalities to solve the problem by 2024. Unsatisfactory: quick solutions are needed to regulate flows and guarantee security.

In 2019, two municipalities (Vilnius city and district) and LAKD signed a tripartite agreement, according to which it is planned to install a right turn with a tunnel under the road and the adjacent street near the road by 2024; the processes will take time to take adjacent parcels for public needs.
