“But I don’t have heartburn, just kiss.” Yes. Heartburn is just one of the symptoms of reflux (acid reflux). It can be said that reflux, a partisan of the disease, works in secret and with little distractions. Acidic or metallic taste (but not necessarily) in the mouth, constant tingling and coughing, constant wheezing, hoarseness, recurring sore throat, tooth decay, even a constant strange urge to eat, drink – all of these can be a symptom of reflux. Unimaginative patient descriptions of symptoms range from “sandpaper” to “cold breath in the morning.” And the number one cause of prolonged coughing in adults is constant forceful inhalation of stomach acid.

“I want to find out what causes my reflux.” And how would we physicians like to finally discover a specific tangible cause and preferably easily eliminated or otherwise eliminated … Unfortunately. Reflux is a disease of civilization. The further we stray from our task of running in the sand naked and barefoot under the blazing African sun until we find the best thorn for our weekly meal, the more often we will be attacked by the diseases of that civilization. A hiatal hernia can be found, a malignant Helicobacter bacteria can be detected in the stomach, but we won’t benefit much from it. Invasive tests are more necessary to know if we have played a role, if we do not have complications (ulcers, scars and large arthropods).

“But I even get acids from the water.” Yes, without long-term personal care, even breathing and quenching your thirst can become painful.

– Food – especially overcooked, refined, spicy, greasy and finally overcooked, the usual and late-night snacks – cause heartburn.

– Stress: Increases acid production and reduces the required muscle tone of the stomach, causing excess acid to be injected under the esophagus, rather than being used sparingly for its intended purpose.

– Low mobility – no movement of the limb muscles – “internal” and standing muscles: reflux, standing food, constipation. And the number of places to stand on the body is limited: when everyone stands, someone has to lie down.

– Alcohol, coffee, bubbles and menthol – they facilitate the process of “vomiting” (so the worst recipe for the morning – drink a cup of espresso with a cup of raw and delicious mint smoke).

– Obesity – when the stomach literally “lifts” the fat and does not want to want from the poor it begins to leak in the opposite direction.

– Supplements and medications: for example, cough syrups and capsules (especially those in which the pine resin looks like dragon fire) are the main side effects, while vitamin C supplements in general are the Unique proven acid and heartburn enhancing effects.

“Yes, I have reflux.” But don’t you feel anything now? Valio. This is definitely not an irreversible condition, and if there are no injuries or symptoms, you shouldn’t prophylactically take medication or “swallow the bulb” every year to see if it’s still in place. But you have to do everything possible so that it is not necessary.

“Are these drugs?” And yes, and no. There are drugs that will improve your well-being, that will “close” one of the processes, perhaps even give a long-term effect, but they will not eliminate all causes. Who should they be for then? First, manage rampant symptoms when they interfere with daily activities and comfort, or when there are already complications: wounds and erosions. Another reason is that we expect those few tablets a day to act as levelers for the spring country road; At least until the fall, golfers and opels will be able to pass, and the stomach will not flood the esophagus for at least a couple of months.

And there are medications that will only make you feel worse. For example, soda. Yes, a chemical reaction will occur and the alkali will neutralize the acid. What happens when you “quench” the garden with vinegar? That’s right, bubbles. And after drinking soda, those bubbles fill the stomach, we ask, we get up and with that comes a new portion of acid. Therefore, all medications containing bicarbonates that are sucked, chewed, and taken in syrup form should be discarded immediately or given to the mother-in-law.

What can be done to turn those months of drug evaluator downtime into semesters and years?

1. Diet: avoid long-digesting, fatty, fried, spicy and refined foods, semi-finished products, mixed strange spices and shop sauces;

2. Moderation and diet: not eat so much that the zeppelins occupy the whole stomach and just displace the acid that does not fit there, do not chew something constantly, do not eat at night, try to eat in small portions, more often and at the same time so that the stomach knows: oh ! This will eat immediately, it must be fed with acid;

internal organs

3. Reduce coffee, alcohol, bubbles and menthol and quit smoking completely;

4. Move more do not lie on the couch after a meal, stand tall, do not attack to work, bend and exercise immediately after the meal;

5. Ditch the unnecessary pounds. From both belly fat and coolers: when done together, the effect increases with geometric progression;

6. Breathing exercise – Abdominal or diaphragmatic breathing – stimulates the work of the stomach, yes, it stimulates the production of acid, but also the correct work of the muscles and the closure of the esophagus and the emptying of the stomach.

And finally, our favorite tips, easier and eager to implement:

7. Herbal preparations: Bitter herbs, flaxseed: can help more gently than medicine. All you have to do is not overdo it and react properly to the effect, and don’t start eating just absinthe and eggshells. Special care must be taken with the new “super medicine”: vinegar. You don’t need to increase the dose and concentration if you don’t get the effect;

8. Over-the-counter preparations – after “getting lost” on the road with a spicy pizza and a bottle of prosecco, when the reason is clear and you promise yourself for the “nineteenth” time that it will not happen again – perfect. However:

9. If symptoms don’t go away, affect your daily activities, or last for months or years, see a doctor and get help.

Delicious and unpretentious summers for you, stay healthy.
