“The Domeikava nursing home consists of about 50 km of gravel roads. Funding is the same every year, regardless of the fact that the body of elders is the largest in the Kaunas district. The situation in the surrounding elderly is much better, for example, the roads of Lapiai, Vandžiogala are at least similar to gravel roads, and not reminiscent of “country roads”, – said G. Sabulis.

Elina Lina Mišeikienė, the elderly woman from Domeikava, also spoke about the maintenance of the Smiltynai village road (the Kaunas district municipality also referred it).
According to her, on April 1, 2021, 10 thousand people declared their place of residence in the Domeikava nursing home. 211 inhabitants. There are only 70 residents (out of 24 households) who drive on the Smiltynai road and have declared their place of residence in this area.
According to L.Mišeikienė, the complaints of the residents are not substantiated, because the density of construction of parcels distributed on this road is very low; according to the laws, it is not recommended to include streets and highways without communication networks and through which territories they enter the list of repaired roads and streets, less than 2/3 of all planned construction areas are built, where only you can access individual residential plots.
“The Domeikava nursing home maintains 117.71 km of roads and streets, of which about 57 km are gravel roads and about 12 km are dirt roads.
On November 5, 2020, the elders of the Domeikava nursing home approved the list of roads (streets) of local importance to be repaired in the Domeikava nursing home in 2021. Due to insufficient funds, the elderly body does not have the possibility to organize the complete list of paved roads (streets) submitted within one year. The sandy road is included in the list above at number 16.

“Every spring gravel roads are made in the old town. As the length of the Smiltynai road is 3.4 km, the elderly cannot carry out all the repairs on this road in one year, so every year we pave the most problematic places on this road. In 2019, two culverts were installed on the Smiltynai road (and connected to the existing drainage line) in places where water was constantly standing and damaging the road surface. This year the rubble of the Smiltynai road is also planned, ”said the old man.
As the length of the Smiltynai road is 3.4 km, the elderly cannot carry out all the repairs on this road in one year.
According to her, in 2021, the leadership of Domeikava, in accordance with available credits, conducted an open public tender for gravel of gravel roads and streets of local importance, signed a contract with the winner of the tender Orsafa. It should be noted that in 2019, the leveling works in the nursing home were carried out by Orsafa, who won the public tender, then there were no complaints about the condition of the road (currently the leveling contract is signed with UAB Asdanga). The question arises: is there no pressure to request from the media the public contest for the classification of streets in the nursing home to be announced in the near future? ”L.
