“We want to say clearly and unequivocally:” Kaunas 2022 – the creators of the European Capital of Culture – do not tolerate homophobia, they are in favor of freedoms and fundamental human rights, especially freedom of expression, so we will organize a debate. “says Virginija Vitkienė, director of Kaunas 2022.

Kaunas 2022 asserts that they are firmly on the side of European values and civil society, especially now that a clear and unequivocal choice of sides is needed.

“With value options now and in the future, forever We will choose the idea on which the whole project is built. For five years, we have been preparing, developing and presenting a program full of openness to others, updating the issues of human rights, freedom of expression, respect for all and culture for all. <...> We support the LGBT community, whose people are the creators, ambassadors, friends and critics of our program, ”says V. Vitkienė.
