Did a politician hit a woman and kick her?
Two families live in a two-story house on Varpo Street, in the very center of the city: on the first floor, Plungiai, and on the second, Stasiūnai. Aleksandra Plungienė did not hide that she did not have great friendships with the neighbors who lived on the second floor, because they were deported and the neighbor was a former communist. Attitudes differed. However, living in the same house also raises common concerns. The woman said she shared the plumbing with a neighbor, but the plumbing that belonged to her also remained on the ground floor. Noticing that the neighbors’ pipe is finishing rusting and is already being sprayed, he told the apartment owner. He claims that after receiving his reply that he had written an apartment for his son Saúl, he would take care of the pipes.
A. Plungienė told the editorial office that on the night of November 8, he saw S. Stasiūnas sitting in the car near the house. Leaning on his wand as he approached the car, the driver opened the door. The old woman who was clinging to them asked the politician what he would do with the pipes and he told her that if he escaped, to be careful. He asked the woman to go away and let him ride. But A. Plungienė insisted on what would happen to those pipes.
“He’s sending me a text message.” Not only that, I didn’t fall, I kicked. I hadn’t fallen down yet because I held my hand behind the door. Then I kicked hard with the other leg and then fell. Since there was nothing else I could do, I started yelling, “Save, hit and kick!” He was shocked as Elder Alexander recounted the sequence of events.
She lives in two with her husband, who is ill at the same age. S. Stasiūnas’ father and brother, who lived on the second floor, were not at home at the time. The residents of the house across the street responded to the cry for help. The neighbor took S. Stasiūnas’ car keys and initially did not allow him to leave.
The grandmother said that while there were no neighbors at the scene of the incident, S. Stasiūnas simply stood up and told the woman to get up. When the arriving neighbor took the woman by the hand to help him up, the station and Stasiūnas took her by the other hand and helped her.
“A neighbor asked me if he could call an ambulance. I said no, I would go to bed and pass, ”Elder Aleksandra said.
S. Stasiūnas collected the keys and quickly left the scene. Ms. Alexander called the police. The woman explained that she had a bruise on her face from the blow. The face was dirty, the knees too. Upon arrival, the summoned police officers only suggested that the grandmother bring her abuser to court.
“You know what it means to sue. Experience is needed, now that crown, it’s scary to get infected. I’m just going to see who will take me to that court. And that quarantine. You don’t want to go to those courts. That you leave once and for all. After all, you will need both an attorney and an expert. But it hurts so much that a strong young man, born and raised here, did it, ”the woman explained.
He said that the daughter of a woman who grew up in the same courtyard together with S. Stasiūnas advised him not to go to court.
Neighbors came to the rescue
A family of neighbors confirmed to the editorial board that they had seen the consequences of the incident, but not the violence itself. When he heard the neighbor crying, he went out into the yard and saw her lying on the ground. The woman screamed so much that it seemed to her husband that she was behaving inappropriately and even suspected that she might have consumed alcohol, although she admitted that neither he nor his wife smelled any odor.
“I decided that I had nothing to interfere with. The woman screamed: kick, kick, I saw that her face was scratched, ”said the neighbor.
He confirmed that he had initially taken the keys to S. Stasiūnas’ car until the situation cleared up.
“It seemed to me that there was no point in him running, if he had any questions he had to call the police himself. I went and they went to explain. They all live there in that house. That Saúl is practically raised by Plungiai, because his mother died early. Saúl told us that he didn’t hit him, they just didn’t let him go. “I am here with the police to be able to intervene,” said the witness of the events, adding that his wife had apologized to S. Stasiūnas’s wife, and he said so.
Aleksandra Plungienė assured that neither she nor her husband drink alcohol because they still have difficulty walking. Her husband is generally ill, he has nursing care. And she didn’t hear S. Stasiūnas’ apology, maybe she was too excited.
Registered with the police
The incident was also registered with the police. Gailutė Smagriūnienė, representative of the Šiauliai County LSC, confirmed the invitation received on November 8, at 5.30 pm, regarding the incident on Varpo Street.
“The applicant did not seek medical advice, no statements or complaints were received,” said a police spokeswoman.
Grandma feels humiliated
A. Plungienė said she had been taken to Siberia from the gym bench. He lived in exile for 14 years, married another deportee and had a daughter. After returning, he worked in accounting for more than a decade, singing in the deportation choir, in other groups.
“I have always been active and respected. I couldn’t even imagine getting things like that when I was almost 90 years old. He humiliated me a lot, he violated my dignity. The heart began to pound. However, he would have raised his voice. Why did he have to win? I lived in Siberia for 14 years, cursing there, driving with guns, but I was not kicked or beaten, ”said my grandmother.
He explained that S. Rasiūnas rarely sees him coming to his father’s house and had nothing to do with him before the incident.
S. Stasiūnas began to respect dignity
The newsroom tried to contact S. Stasiūnas, a member of the Council, but did not answer the phone.
The journalist sent an email with questions.
I called you because when preparing the publication I wanted to ask you about the conflict that took place on November 8 near the Varpas house (…) Aleksandra Plungienė said that during this conflict you hit her once in the face and kicked her leg twice Before it collapsed This conflict was confirmed by neighbors, the incident was registered with the police.
As a public person, a member of the Council elected by the townspeople, I suggest that you provide your side of the story and answer the questions:
1. Why did you abuse an 88-year-old woman who was fighting? Is it true that you kicked her, hit her in the face? If this is not true, how was the woman knocked to the ground?
2. According to witnesses, you grew up in this house and A. Plungienė took care of you when you were a child. Why didn’t you find opportunities to speak to the woman and explain the state of the pipes in a peaceful way?
3. Why did you leave the scene of the incident without reaching the summoned police officers?
4. Did you apologize, Grandma?
5 (…)
We have received the answer: “Respecting the dignity of the people who live in Varpas (…), including those who have reached a very solid age, I will not answer your questions or comment on facts.”
S. Stasiūnas is also not very successful in political activities. We recently wrote that the presidents of the city’s community organizations, tired of the arrogance of S. Stasiūnas, who had become a member of the Council with Mayor A. Visockas, expressed distrust in this politician and collected signatures demanding the City Council to remove him from office on the Council of Community Organizations.
For the Šiauliai region, S. Stasiūnas confirmed in the article “Communists translate S. Stasiūnas” (October 31, 2020) that he had prepared a report on the event organized by the public without even participating in it.
