Traffic was completely blocked near Pailgė, a car and a truck collided. Around eight o’clock in the morning, while driving towards Vilnius, the VW Sharan flew in the opposite direction and the forehead hit the truck. Until now, it is difficult to tell if the driver of the car overtook something or did not control the car and it slid to the opposite side. The truck driver says he didn’t even notice.
The truck driver is not injured. He says he tried to avoid a collision:
“I stopped right away, but I say it’s a matter of seconds.”

Those driving in unison were crushed, so rescuers were called in. The latter did not manage to get the men out immediately. Firefighters cut down the door, removed the three men and handed them over to the medics. The deaths were diagnosed almost immediately, as soon as doctors loaded people into their cars. Doctors took another man to the hospital. A few kilometers on the way to Vilnius, near Raudondvaris, the death of a third man was also reported.
The accident caused miles of congestion in both directions: the highway was completely closed while services were running. The police stopped all the cars, the trucks had to wait, many light drivers turned around to look for detours and those who were less rushed were also waiting.
The age of the dead also turned out to be men 25, 33 and 38 years old. According to preliminary data, the youngest was driving. All dead, according to preliminary data, builders. The men probably went to work in Vilnius.
The accident took place on a straight stretch of road on the outskirts of Pailgė, driving towards Vilnius and descending a slope. The speed in front of this place is limited to 70 kilometers per hour. After exiting Ponggė, impatient drivers often overspeed and overtake. At the scene of the accident, a solid line, in this place you can only turn left on the side road, but not bend.
