A spokesman for the Archdiocese of Kaunas, Darius Chmieliauskas, told the SNB that even before the introduction of local quarantine in the district, the faithful of various churches in the district did not meet much even during Sunday mass.

“Masses are and will be held in accordance with all possible protective measures – both disinfection and masks will not completely close the churches, because, in fact, other social spaces are not closed. And before the quarantine in Raseiniai, where there is one of the largest churches in the area, there were between 30 and 40 people on Sunday. It is definitely not a big crowd, people are safe, “said D. Chhmieliauskas.

According to him, the parish priest of Raseiniai also coordinated this decision with the municipal administration of the district.

In the Raseiniai district, the quarantine was introduced on Friday, when during the last two weeks the morbidity rate from COVID-19 was 100,000. The population of the municipality exceeded 1,1 thousand. cases.

In the district, masks must be worn both indoors and outdoors, it is forbidden to gather more than two people, except families, work and study remotely, the work of cafes is shortened until midnight, and the flow of buyers and customers in institutions it is limited. All events and gatherings in open and closed spaces, except elections, are prohibited.
