He said he had an intimate relationship with a neighbor, the woman denied it.
What happened that a pensioner who had reached an advanced age and had never been convicted in the past was committing a very serious crime for which the court sentenced him to 11 years in prison?
During the trial, it became clear that anger and jealousy had turned the old man into a murderer, and the married neighbor of V. Anuprevičius, with whom he had been friends for 5-7 years, played a key role in this story and, according to The court thought she was intimate.
The woman herself admitted to having interacted with a neighbor, but denied any intimate link between them. Depending on the case, the woman visited a neighbor, called her, wrote her messages, asked her not to write because her spouse was a little jealous.
Later, V. Anuprevičius did not respond very favorably to his 53-year-old neighbor. She indicated that she likes to drink, unfaithful to her husband.
This neighborly relationship ended on September 28 of last year. In the morning, A. Anuprevičius called a neighbor and offered to meet. Refusing this offer at first, after a while the woman called V. Anuprevičius and invited her. Her husband was gone at that time.
V. Anuprevičius visited a neighbor who was carrying a 0.5 liter bottle of vodka. He said he drank a little, about 100-150 grams, because at night he planned to go to town by car. The drinks, which started in the morning, finished around 11 o’clock, V. Anuprevičius went out of his way without drinking the entire bottle of vodka.

When the woman answered the other man’s phone, a stormy scene of jealousy emerged.
At her home, one of the remaining women went for a walk, met another acquaintance of hers, and eventually found herself in an apartment where another man’s birthday was mentioned.
At approximately 5 pm V. Anuprevičius, who remembered her friend, began obsessively calling her. There was more than one call, but the woman at the table did not want to answer. Finally, one of his classmates hated him.
After hearing the voice of an unknown man, not his neighbor, with whom he was friends, V. Anuprevičius did not get angry.
“Goat, you’re on the phone, right?” Recalls the retiree, a murderer.
He said that when he picked up the phone and asked his neighbor what he wanted from her, he realized by voice that the woman was drunk.
The men, who were with the woman, said that after saying that the old woman was “calling”, she turned on the speaker of the telephone, so that all the participants at the table became witnesses of the scene of jealousy.
They heard V. Anuprevičius curse her neighbor with uncensored words, they were suspicious of her lovers and reprimanded her for going with “smaller children”. Finally, the anniversary celebrated by S. Ž., Who celebrated his birthday, joined the conversation, according to witnesses, ordered to stop threatening, and scolded the interlocutor.
After the men took it seriously, V. Anuprevičius received an offer to meet in the garage and finally clarify the relationship there. The retiree accepted this offer and began preparing for a confrontation with a stranger.
The shot was fired from the cockpit of the car through the glass.
At approximately 6 pm from Kaišiadorys, V. Anuprevičius went to the village, collected an illegally cut hunting rifle and ammunition on the farm.
“I drove from the apartment to town specifically to pick up a rifle, anger was my driving force because it threatened me,” the retiree told the court.
He mentioned that he took the rifle because he was afraid of threats, he wanted to show that he had a gun so as not to sneak up on him. Thinking that it might be necessary to shoot him if the three men attacked him, Kaišiadorys also picked up bullets loaded with shots.
V. Anuprevičius was the first to arrive at the specified meeting place, the garage, in an Audi A6 car. The man cut the engine, loaded the gun, and began to wait.
To meet a stranger who had a conflict with the phone, S. Ž. it was not alone. Probably feeling that such a meeting would not end in a very pleasant way, he invited his friend GL, whose testimony became extremely important later in the trial of V. Anuprevičius.
The witness said it was with a friend, but they did not know what to look for when they saw a car parked in the garage with foggy windows in the Audi A6.
“As I passed, I saw a man sitting down and the barrel of a pistol leaning against a window. So everything went very fast. I yelled at a friend who heard a rifle and a gunshot, “said the witness.
An armed retiree sitting in a car shot his victim from the inside, without even opening the driver’s side window. The bullets that had reached the hunting weapon hit him in the neck, the man died on the spot.
As soon as the shot was fired, the car immediately moved. The witness said he fell asleep chasing the killer, running after him, jotting down state numbers and calling the general help line.
When he returned with his injured friend, he was still breathing, but while he waited for the arriving doctors, the man, who was injured in the neck, died. The witness mentioned that there were many glass shards nearby when the man was shot from the cabin of the car without opening the window.

He confessed to shooting the man and blamed the murdered
Less than an hour after the shooting, V. Anuprevičius, who was arrested by police officers, did not deny his guilt. However, he tended to interpret the facts in his own way, not wanting to shoot the believer, which happened unintentionally, trying to put the blame on the murdered.
He said he was waiting at an agreed location where he was to find out about the relationship with the stranger when he saw the two people approaching him.
“The men left scattered, I thought something serious, I loaded a rifle, put two rounds of ammunition, broke the triggers and waited,” said the retiree.
He stated that he opened the car window, pulled out the barrel of the rifle, and warned strangers out loud that he was armed. It is said that one of the men who had arrived warned his friend not to come, but he did not ask: not only did he come closer, he called to shoot faster, he ran to the car and kicked the door.
“When I saw the shoe, I was scared, I retreated and then accidentally shot,” said V. Anuprevičius, 72.
In court, the retiree said he also had more ammunition, so he would have shot other men if they had attacked. He assured him that the man had been shot while sober and that he drank alcohol only when he returned to town by car, where he was detained by police officers.

The victims did not apologize to their parents
However, the Kaunas Regional Court, which examined the case with this version, did not believe it, it was denied by the testimony of the witnesses.
Although the defendant also stated that he only wanted to show the weapon so as not to be attacked, his intention to use the weapon not to show but to shoot confirms that he took ammunition with the weapon, loaded the weapon while waiting for the victim and shot him. he did not even receive the intended explanation, “said the court, finding that the accused acted intentionally, aware of the danger of his actions, anticipating that fatal consequences could also occur.
It was also highlighted that, by basically admitting his guilt, V. Anuprevičius did not regret the crime, claiming that he had been provoked and intimidated by the murderer. During the trial, he said that he had misjudged his behavior, but did not apologize to the killer’s parents.
According to the court, the aggravating factor of the defendant’s responsibility is that he committed the crime while intoxicated. Although there is no objective evidence in the case of his drunkenness at the time of the crime, both the defendant and the witness stated that he had consumed vodka the same day since noon and drank 1.16 per thousand during his arrest.
Virginijus Mizaras, the prosecutor of the Kaunas Regional Prosecutor’s Office, who supported the defendants in the case, offered the court to sentence V. Anuprevičius to 13 years in prison for the murder.
However, the court sentenced him to a slightly lesser sentence, 11 years in prison. The pensioner was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison for illegal possession of firearms and, after the aggregation, the final sentence of 11 years in prison was maintained. This term includes time spent behind bars in the 2019 arrest on Sept. 28.
