Replacing the motor is a very difficult option. In any case, that trip could only be subject to certain Dakar rules, not qualifying. I would start last, there are a number of complications in that rule that severely limit the ability of that sport.

For the remaining days, I would never start above 25th place, 15 minutes would be added to my score after each finish. After all, it wouldn’t have been sporty.

And the investment and work to get back to normal would be a great resource, it seems that it is not in our pocket at the moment. There is also no movement by the X-Raid, because it is logical, it does not make sense. We discuss, we discuss the situation, what to do next.

– Okay, yes. My vision of what we come here for has changed radically in recent days.

When we stopped 20 km earlier, it seemed that the clutch was not fully released. It seemed to me that I had left the engine in neutral, but that did not seem to have happened.

This means that when Benedict took us to the finish, we started the engine. At low revs, when the engine is started, or when it moves easily into the speed section, you will not understand the state of the engine.

It might have looked like there was no problem. But when we gave the load, it became clear that the motor was receiving that negative load. That fear of ours was confirmed: when we returned to the bivouac, we squeezed the ointment and noticed strange shavings on it.

In the exhaust system, the smoke and sounds are not what they should be.

The X-Raid representatives came and said that it is possible to try to dismantle the engine, clean the system, but still driving for the first year, there would be a lot of work for the probability that the engine is still alive.

– What’s next, what are your plans?

– We will pack our bags, we will move 800 km to the port of Jeda. There we will see if we wait for the flight scheduled for January 16 or find a solution to get home earlier.
