The Dakar Rally Marathon ends on Friday and the winner, Kevin Benavides of the Honda team, has already been announced in the motorcycle classification. This race will also enter the history of Lithuanian sport, as Arūnas Gelažninkas triumphed in the singles category.
In the final stage of the race, the winner of the race, K. Benavides, finished second, symbolically beating last year’s champion, Ricky Brabec. That result was not enough for the American and he was second in the general classification, second behind Benavides by almost five minutes.
Sam Sunderland, representative of KTM, was third in the general classification. The British ranked 12th in the final speed section.
The race was perfect for Dakar rookie Daniel Sanders, who finished very high in fourth place overall.
