“It is a kind of police icon that will appear alongside what we believe to be inappropriate comments or messages,” Renatas Požėla, Commissioner General of Police, told reporters on Monday.

According to him, officials are currently being selected to constantly monitor the electronic space.

“Currently, a certain number of officers are being selected to monitor cyberspace 24 hours a day, and if inappropriate messages and comments are captured, the virtual patrol will react,” said the Commissioner General.

“The goal is to fight sexual, racial and hate crimes,” he said.

Mr. Požėla also stated that this measure would be effective “in all other respects”.
