Current news for travelers: train times will change

“There is no shortage of challenges for the coronavirus, but we know we will get through this stage, so we need to look ahead and plan for the future. One of them is updating the annual train schedules. We have refined them according to the wishes of our clients, carefully analyzing the flow of travelers and modeling future forecasts.

We understand that a pandemic changes daily habits, but we believe that the virus will be overcome and people will go back to traveling to work, to the beach or to unknown places in Lithuania. We strive to make these trips the most convenient and environmentally friendly way: by train, ”says Linas Baužys, Director of LTG Link.

According to L. Baužis, the most notable news for passengers is the return route Vilnius – Šiauliai – Vilnius – trains will run on it on Fridays – Sundays – and, once the road repairs are completed, accelerated trips on the route Vilnius – Kaunas – Vilnius.

“The train is the most environmentally friendly vehicle and the electrified Vilnius-Kaunas section is already the greenest of the greens: all our electric trains use 100 percent electricity. produced from renewable sources. We plan that in 2024, after electrifying the country’s main railway artery Vilnius – Klaipėda, which will run new electric trains, the amount of carbon dioxide entering the environment per year will decrease by about 7,000 tons. But already, after trying train travel, everyone can be heroes of a cleaner environment ”, says L. Baužys

The director of LTG Link points out that the new annual schedules will take effect with flights optimized for pandemics.

Passengers are invited to familiarize themselves with the most relevant changes in the following report organized by routes:

The logic of the stops has also been revised: this will ensure better connections for the inhabitants of smaller cities.
