Crvena Zvezda took the victory from Greece with an 18-0 win

Belgrade’s Crvena Zvezda (21/9) team won a difficult victory in the Euroleague Outsiders battle, away 86:82 (17:23, 23:17, 20:19, 26:23) broke the Panathinaikos club (10/21) in Athens.

The Belgrade club also won the first match (74:71), thus maintaining their chances of catching the Greeks in the tournament table.

Panathinaikos scored the first six points, but did not run far: the first half of the match ended exactly (40:40). The Greeks fired again in the third half, split 59:48 after Mario Hezonía’s triple, but the guests responded with an 18: 0 (66:59) start.

The Serbs held their accumulated lead for most of the fourth quarter (77:70), while Ioannis Papapetrou (76:77) closed the gap before taking 100-second free throws.

Jordan Loyd scored two points and Panathinaikos scrambled for answers during the one-minute break. The team could be helped in this situation by strategist Oded Kattash, who was sent off after the second technical foul.

After Howard Sant-Roos tied the score, J. Loyd shot again from distance – 82:79. Branko Lazičius added two free throws and M. Hezonja finished the attack with just three points – 82:84. J. Loydas finished the game with a free kick.

The Belgrade club leader gave a powerful performance, scoring 27 points in 25 minutes (7/9 from two points, 3/7 from three points, 4/4 free throws), bounced 4, served one and lost 2 balls, made 5 assists, committed 2 infractions and scored 30 utility points.

Both teams no longer have a chance to make the playoffs and are 16th and 17th.
