So far, five of them have been placed, but it is not ruled out that the 30-bed wards may be filled on Friday, Žydrė Gedrimaitė, a hospital representative, told BNS.

“We are ready at eight in the morning and the patients are already on their way. (…) Today, a room is open to accommodate 30 patients, 20 of whom can be connected to oxygen, “he said.

The hospital has left a total of 130 beds for COVID-19 patients, which will be filled as needed, but as the number of patients increases, the problem of treating doctors will become a challenge.

“Everything is enough for this minute, for this day,” the hospital spokeswoman said, but stressed that the situation is changing quite quickly.

Patients are admitted to this hospital after the capacity of the Santara Clinics, one of five Lithuanian hospitals treating COVID-19 patients, has been exhausted.

According to Thursday, 370 COVID-19 patients are being treated in Lithuanian hospitals.
