In this city, 2,184.6 new cases of COVID-19 infection have been detected in 100 cities in the last 14 days. Alytus is again the first in the list of municipalities compiled according to this morbidity indicator after a hiatus of several days.
The second is Pakruojis District Municipality (2,155.1 cases), the third is Panevėžys (2,121.4 cases).
The situation also changed at the end of the list: after the last day, the last place (60th) was not occupied by Neringa, who had been there for a long time, but by Rietavas (482.1 cases). So far, Elta has been unable to obtain an expert explanation as to why the number of COVID-19 deaths in Kaunas, which has a much smaller population than Vilnius, is the highest in Lithuania. So far 160 of them have been registered in Kaunas and 141 in Vilnius. Another 48 Kaunas residents infected with coronavirus died from other illnesses. In Vilnius, there are already many more people who have died for other reasons: 86.
By Monday, 74 Šiauliai residents had also died from the coronavirus infection, and another 19 infected people in the city had died from other illnesses. In Klaipėda, 65 deaths were recorded from COVID-19 disease and 16, due to other reasons, in Panevėžys, similarly, 36 and 11 deaths.
To date, 1,269 deaths from COVID-19 have been recorded across Lithuania, and another 632 infected people have died from other causes, according to doctors. During the last 14 days, 1,336.8 (100 thousand inhabitants) new cases of the disease were detected. There are now 68,370 people in the country, as ELTA announced.
Kaunas currently occupies the third place in the list of municipalities that reflects the level of morbidity (1194 new COVID were approved in 2 weeks – 19 cases – 100,000 inhabitants), Kaunas district – 33rd (1143.9 cases).
Vilnius ranks 17th on the mentioned list (1409 cases). Vilnius district – ninth (1569.7 cases). Šiauliai is ranked 15th on the list (1,460.9 cases), Klaipėda is 18th (1,380.1 cases per 100,000 inhabitants).
In Kaunas, 7,119 people have already recovered from the coronavirus infection and 6,756 are still sick. Last day, 144 new cases of the disease were confirmed in this city, of which 14083 have already been registered. More cases of virus infection.
So far 1,25832 cases of COVID-19 disease have been confirmed in Vilnius, 11,526 have recovered and 14079 people are still ill.
