Petras Leikauskas, director of the Panevėžys Šviesa Special Education Center, was satisfied that the tests of other people who had interacted with the sick clerk were negative.
“We have received news that teachers and students tested negative for the coronavirus. However, both teachers and students will be isolated for two weeks. At school we follow all hygiene requirements, we disinfect the facilities,” explained P. Leikauskas.

The bad news reached another educational institution in Panevėžys: the progymnasium “Vilties”. In this school the son of an employee of the administration of the special education center “Šviesa” with coronavirus studies. They also diagnosed him with a positive test.
“On September 9, we learned that the mother of the school student had COVID-19. Dad took the boy out of the lessons. We immediately identified the addresses of the student movement they were visiting. When we found out today that the boy’s test was also positive, we immediately took all the necessary disinfectants. We inform the Municipality of Panevėžys, Department of Education. Lessons are being given, but the children are still informed that they have been assigned self-isolation until 23 September, ”explained Danutė Valiukienė, director of Vilties Progymnasium.
According to her, she tries to do everything calmly, without panic.
“We prepare information for parents of children on how to behave. Parents decide for themselves whether to test their children. We cannot influence it. We recommend testing teachers who have worked in the classroom. A total of 30 children study in the classroom, ”said D.Valiukienė.
