In view of the stricter quarantine conditions in the country, inspectors check how food stores ensure the implementation of the mandatory requirements a few days before the holidays.
Inspectors assess whether stores offer 15 square meters of retail space per visitor, restrict the flow of customers, allow only customers to wear masks and do not serve more than one person at a time.
It is also checked whether the stores provide sufficient hygiene and disinfection for the hands of customers and the employees themselves.
SFVS inspectors plan to inspect most of the major Lithuanian supermarkets and other grocery stores in the country during the remaining days before the holidays.
“Currently, the main infractions detected in food stores are unregulated customer flows, which are still very high, especially in large supermarkets, and only under the control of inspectors are active and adequate actions taken to regulate the resulting flows, ”the report states.
According to control officials, although the government resolution recommends securing a sufficient number of cash registers in stores to avoid waiting in line for more than five customers, this is not guaranteed everywhere.
Recommendations to visit stores for one person from the same household are also ignored, and several buyers come to shop with young family members.
