Contracts have been signed for the construction of three new military camps

Companies Salvinta and Partnership Projects Four will build military camps for three battalion-sized units of the Lithuanian Armed Forces under public-private partnership agreements.

Salvinta will build military cities in Šilalė and Vilnius districts, and Partnerships Projects Four company has been entrusted with developing a military city in Šiauliai.

The report of the Ministry of National Defense (MND) indicates that this is the first time that the development of facilities in the national defense system is carried out through a public-private alliance.

“I do not want to accept all the merits of the signature, because the contracts were drawn up by the former Minister of National Defense. But by choosing a public-private partnership to develop new military infrastructure, we will be able to have three new military campuses by 2023, the construction and maintenance of which will take place over a long period of time, thus easing the financial burden on the national defense budget. Minister.

According to him, the new infrastructure will contribute to the strengthening of the capacities of the Lithuanian Armed Forces and will create better conditions for the presence of allies in Lithuania, since the infrastructure of the battalions will be released.

Salvinta, a company belonging to the Darnu Group, will build the new infrastructure for the Duke Vaidotas Mechanized Infantry Battalion, it will move from its current location in Rukla to the village of Rokantiškės in the Vilnius district, and to the Motiejus Brigade General Artillery Battalion Pečiulionis in Šajilry, to the new permanent infrastructure created nearby.

The new infrastructure for the Duke Margiris Infantry Battalion will be developed by Partnership Partnerships Four, which belongs to the Eika group of companies.

The total value of the three contracts is about 168 million. euros.

Due to the chosen partnership model, the Ministry of National Defense will be able to distribute these costs equally for 12.5 years, when the new infrastructure of the Lithuanian Armed Forces units is created and put into operation.

In each new military city, barracks, headquarters, canteens, sports and leisure facilities, medical points, repair shops and all other necessary military infrastructure will be built. In total, they will house around 3,000. soldiers.
